Adding calcium when they won’t touch oyster shells

It looks to be fine for calcium, but like many layer feeds is low protein. It certainly won’t hurt your girls though!
I prefer to feed an All Flock feed (low calcium for young birds, non-layers, Roos etc) and then give them oyster shell on the side. I feed Kalmbach feed which is 20% protein, Chewy and Amazon carry it.

Thanks for your personal assessment and I will pick up some Oyster Shells for them.
What about how often should I serve it up to them and how much 🤔🐓🐔

Always best to provide a choice of calcium as some birds have a higher need than others.

In your case (assuming you only feed layer feed), you can also dry or bake and crush up eggshells to supplement calcium back to them.
How about this. I did this yesterday but I haven't given them any yet. How much of it should I give them. 🤔👍🥴😁🐓🐔 20250512_153515.jpg 20250512_174640.jpg

Just provide it free choice, they'll take only what they need. I would still provide oyster shell anyways 'cause it's cheap, never goes bad and ensures they always have access to calcium when needed
So why do people do this if you still have to supply them with Oyster Shells. 🤔🥴😁🐓🐔

One of my geese does better on people calcium citrate. I can give her all the oyster shell I want mixed in their feed and she would still have problems. But giving 'goosium' every third feeding or so during egg laying season seems to do the trick. I mix about a tablespoon into her ration of wet mash.

Here is the calcium citrate I use:

We use the exact same thing, just sprinkle it into there feed, we went out feed a little and stir it in. I've heard it's best to give it to them at night, not sure if there's any truth to it, busy the girls do like a late night snack
