Hello I have two 6 week old Barred rocks that I have been trying to add to my flock of six thirteen week old cochins.
So far I have been keeping the two chicks in a cage with their own food and water in the run. When they are in their cage the older ones seem to leave them alone and there is no pecking. But when I let them out into the run the older ones show more interest and peck them more often. Also the little ones don,t follow the older ones when I let them out to free range (they actually follow me). And the older ones kind of run away as if they are abandoning them.

I also still take the chicks inside at night in fear they will be afraid being locked in a dark space with six other chickens.

    What should I do?
If anyone has any addvice please tell me thanks.

You probably won't be able to integrate them safely until the younger ones are at least 16 weeks.
