Hello,
I have a pen about 600m2 with 3 peafowl ( 1 peacock and 2 peahens ) , 4 chickens , and 1 pheasant. I have a 2500m2 garden and I’m at the end of the road bordering the woods.I have a friend that’s moving and is going to give me his 2 or 3 year old peafowl couple. Will this work in my pen ? 2 males for 3 females ? In my size pen ? Should I let them free range outside the pen instead of putting them with the others ?
Any advice or experience will help .
Thank you

I am having problems trying to figure how large 600 square meters is but it sounds big. You do realize that the pen would have to have the top netted to keep the peas in? Thinking out loud that a SM would be about nine SF, os 9 x 600 = 54,000 SF That is really big if I am correct and plenty of room for a lot more.

I would’ve done the math like you, but google says different. It says in feet , it is about 6,500 SF. The pen also has a chicken pen 250 SF and the peafowl private area 1100 SF, both attached and the doors open. Yes there’s room, I’m just worried with the 2 males being together.

ps. I put pics to imagine it better .

thank you

1-the entrance
2- the peafowl coop (1100 SF )
3- the big pen and total of all 3 together is 6,500 SF
4- the chicken pen ( 250 SF )

Holie molie that is a great pen setup you have there! We normally want 150sq ft or more per bird but you have so much space there you could have many more than what you do. The cocks will stake out their territory and be fine. The hens will roam about and pick the cock they like to breed with.

Thank you , that’s reassuring. I read that peacocks can be aggressive and will fight. I am so afraid they will fight and that I can’t have them both in the same pen. I could always close a door but .... I’d rather not.
No , it hasn’t really snowed yet and I don’t think it will anytime soon. Why ???

Ok , i will . Thanks for the info . I had one of my Greenhouses fly off onto it one day and it stood strong. Net didn’t even rip. It broke and bent everything before getting to the pen and decided to rest on the net. I added a couple more poles after. I will reinforce it more, you never know. Thanks...
