adding to flock, help me choose a breed!!

Before you start first some rules:

1st NO silly comments Please

I only want REAL chickens

REAL=NO silkes or bantums

I would prefer a heritage breed see ALBC

I would also prefer a breed on the critical list, because I would like to help preserve a nice breed

I want an american breed

I also would like a bird that is not mostly white

I want it to lay brown eggs

Please dont recommend cross breeds, if I wanted mutts I would go to the dog pound!!

ANY sujestions ????

Ummm, what do you have already? You could do domething like pendesencas, marans, or welsummers. Not american but they fit everything else.

How bout a purple chicken? I know where you can find one REAL cheap, but I think its a ROO, and a silkie (really really small bantam)- so I dunno - do you MIND having Roo eggs or do you only want Hen eggs? On second thoughts, I don't think the purple chicken is pure, I think he's a MUTT.

Delawares meets your criteria, except for being mostly white.

If you can find some with a lot of black on them as well, then it would fit your criteria perfectly.

Never mind about the purple chicken, I looked it up on line and its a VERY tiny bantam breed with a hairy back!

delawares sound good. I am gettin a buckeye delaware and domonique because i like heritage breeds.
