I have 1 cockerel and 8 pullets (2 weeks old). I'm wishing I would have got a few more pullets. The breeder I bought from is willing to give me 3 birds who are 4 weeks old but are not sexed. Would you take the risk of adding these 4 week olds to the flock knowing there is a chance of ending up with another rooster or two? Im affraid of making the male/female ratio worse rather than better. These are very beautiful buff and blue ameraucanas.

I'm adding 3 more to my flock this year. I will integrate them at about 4 months of age. I think I might have 2 roosters, we'll see. They were all picked from the pullet bin.

Last year I picked half my flock straight run and they ended up hens.

Thanks. I have 3 ameraucana and 5 RIR hens. I may be adding a few ameraucana because I like the buff black and blue color that they add to the flock. Im just not sure if I want the risk of ending up with too many roosters!
