When I got mine, the valve on the bottom was not screwed in all the way. After I screwed it in, it worked perfect. All you need to screw the valve in is a valve stem tool. You can get them any auto parts house. Just tell them you need the tool for removing the valve in the valve stem of a tire.

The waterer fount must be "suspended" ... in other words it must "hang". The weight of the water in the bowl is what adjusts the level. If you place the waterer onto something, it will overflow because there is no tension. Laurie in Monroe Township, NJ
