Hopefully it will just grow back with a little 'ripple' in it...but right now it looks like a Franken-finger with the stiches in it

My DH accidentally ripped my toe nail off, even the quick. It is growing back pretty good. Has a slight ripple in it. Your nail should grow back pretty good. I would def. check and see if the dogs shots are up to date. I also have weiner dog, and he is obnoxious too.

Gosh I didnt even think about the fact that the dog might not have shots, PLEASE report it so that you can find out, you might need more shots if not! Also I lost a nail at a concert YEARS ago and it took about 6 months to grow out, had a ripple for a few years, and now is normal looking!

If you insurance company is like mine they will probally send out a letter wanting more information. They will then have the option to go after the neighbour to pay the bill. Also calling animal control is a good thing. If they are doing their job properly they will make a welfare check on the dog to be sure it has been taken care of and not left to wander injured.

There was no damage to the car at all. she went under the front and got hit by the back tire. We talked to the insurance and everything is fine.

this is craziness...we just went to town and on the way back a HUGE lab mix almost got hit twice..we just barely missed it. I think he was dumped but someone was trying to get him out of the road so he should be okay....i nearly peed my pants. 2 dogs in 2 days is insane! some people....

Any pet that get out and gets hurt unless say someone breaks into your home, it's the owners responsibility, even if someone else was looking after the pets( like a MIL or a kid). The car was doing his job the dog wasn't. Sorry but the dog was not supposed to be on the road.

Hate to beat a dead horse but.....
Did you report it to your insurance company or just your agent? If you do not report it direct to the company an get a report number then if something comes of it later (he trys to sue you) they do not have to cover you or defend you. Its in the contract.... Something about failure to report in a timely manner.

I wasn't the one driving so all i know is she got ahold of her insurance company. said there was no problem. Gonna hopefulyl stop by tomorrow if theyre home and see how she is.

Such a sad and hard situation! It is the owners fault, certainly not the person driving the car. However, that does not mean both sides shouldn't be having a hard time. If I hit a dog I would feel sooooo guilty even if it wasn't my fault, and if my dog got ran over I would be devastated even more so because it was my fault. I think the owners should be responsible for any car damages that came from the accident but not the medical bills. It was the right thing to do to stop and try to help, but hurt animals often try and defend themselves. The owners of the dog didn't have control of your actions, well meaning as they were, once you got out of the car. So sorry for the both of you!
