Admiral, my Chocolate Splash Blue Swedish! ...*Pics*

I'm using the voice-sexing method to determine that she is a female. She recently started quacking loudly just like my female Welsh Harlequin. My two suspected males, Ancona and Campbell, have very quiet, whispery, raspy voices. I'm hoping it's a reliable method, there does seem to be a noticeable difference in their tones.

I would absolutely love to try and breed for more of this color. I know it's not going to be a show standard color or anything, but I really love the way she looks, and she seems very unique. She is only around 6 weeks or so old, so she will not be breeding anytime soon...but I think it's a great opportunity to start looking for a boy Black Swede! And maybe a few more Runners...you know...for warmth.....

This is interesting. I have Blue Swedes...and the silvers are always pure white...not splashed like the chicken version of a white phase blue.

If I can get my broody silver hen off her nest, I'll show you. She's solid white. All of the silvers I've hatched have been.

She looks just like my little Rain just a little lighter.
Very perfect little crest she has.

I always wondered what a splash blue Swedish was and i always thought it was all white with blue/grey speckles. I guess you're Duckey didnt get the 'spots' part of the deal :3

But VERY beautiful If only you could breed her. But breeding crested Girls is dangerous, their crest can get pulled out. Happened to Rain once it was so sad D:

I am guessing she is a chocolate splash, thats why she looks different from blue splashes.

I had one chocolate swedish hen, she was the most beautiful duck ever.

Get yours a Black drake, crossing her with a black drake will produce both chocolate and black ducklings.
All the chocolates will be female since Chocolate in Ducks is a sexlinked dominant females only need 1 gene to display the colour, while drakes need 2.
Yours has 2 choc genes, thats why she is splash and every single one of her babies will get the gene but only the girls will display it while the boys will be split to it but look visually black.
Breed on of her sons to one of his sisters and you should get:
- 25% of ducklings with 2 chocolate genes(females would look like yours - splash-, males would be chocolate)
- 50% with 1 black and one chocolate gene, so chocolate females and split males
- 25% with 2 black genes, so all black ducklings, both male and female.

I hope this helps in your search to find her a mate.

Anna
