Admiral, still look like a F&W Runner?*Updated!*

Boy I wish Admiral and my other mystery duckling were as easy to figure out as my K.Campbell(Truffle) and Ancona(Cinnamon)!

I hadn't thought about Crested Blue Swedish, but he is much lighter colored than the other ducklings I saw on feathersite. It's a good suggestion, though, because he DOES have that bill color. But so do F&W Runners, and no w who knows what else!

The picture does make his face look darker than he does in person, and he doesn't have any apparrent markings on his body. His tiny tail feathers appear to be coming in light colored/white.

I really have to thank you guys for g iving me ideas on what he could be.

Well, I'm not positive mine are Swedish ... they LOOK like it, but mine were dark as ducklings, with yellow undermarkings. As opposed to the f&w runners, who were yellow with no markings. Feathers began to come in white, on the runners.

If your pic makes him look darker than he is, he could be a runner.

Hehe, I had to wait until mine grew up to be sure. By about 2 months it was easy to tell though.

He's cute though!

Thanks! So here's what we have established...Admiral-Duck

- lookslike a runner. It seems like the majority of guesses are Runner, so I'm going to happily go with that unless he suddenly starts to look different.

His tail feathers are growing in mostly white, with a single medium-something-tannish/greyish colored feather in the mix. He doesn't seem to have any markings on his body aside from his face, not even when he got wet in a little bowl of water I gave them last night.(They had gotten gunky food all over them so I let them splash around in a bowl to clean up)

If this works, I'll try to send a pic of Kupo just as his feathers were growing in. He's a fawn & white runner.

(Edited to add:) His markings only show here because he's wet, like you mentioned. When he was dry, he appeared yellow all over at this age. The markings started showing up a few weeks before the drake ffeathers, if I remember right.

And here's a pic of the gang all grown up ... Kupo is on the far left. Baka on the far right is also a f&w runner. He is an adult here ... this coloration came in by the time he was about 3-1/2 months old as I'm looking back over old photos.

Just for a little further comparison!

I would say either a Crested Runner OR Crested Blue Swed. I would say he is just a light coloration swed.

Ok, he is starting to grow in some real feathers too! It looks like they are a medium-brownish color coming in on his body, and I can't tell if the ones in his tail are coming in light or dark yet, they are still blood feathers. BUT, the ones on his back area are definitely medium-brown, lighter than my Khaki Campbell's feathers for sure.

Does this help in this ID process? I'm excited to find out what they look like!
