Hello!!
We recently had two baby chicks that were gifted to us (2days old) and we thought it would be a good idea to place them with our indoor chicken she is from the Kikiriki family she took them right in but now she is very lethargic ... we are un sure if she is a young chicken or a older chicken up until now she has not laid any eggs even when being paired with a rooster.
Someone help 😭

I'm assuming this hen was triggered into being semi-broody when she saw the chicks. It's happened in my flock that an old hen adopted chicks like this.

While this kind of broodiness isn't a fully involved dedication as she would if she had sat and hatched these chicks, she is still going to be far less active, including appetite reduction. You can help her by removing her several times a day from the chicks and encourage her to eat and drink so she keeps up her strength.

She will decide when she's done raising the chicks, and if it's before the chicks are five weeks old, you may need to be ready to finish brooding the chicks yourself. That means supply them with a heat source until they have a full covering of feathers around age five weeks.
