I'm really going to need an automatic door that opens at sunrise and closes at sunset. The brand "ador" had some good reviews. What do ya'll use? What's your favorite or next one you really want to invest in?

I have an Ador and it has been great. It uses a lantern battery and they last a good time. I change the battery yearly, as our cold winters can drain them.
Ador is my leading candidate right now. I am wondering if the battery will back up the electrical option, or if the electrical option completely nullifies the battery?

I’m not sure witch one I have, but make sure you have a good power source in the coop. I gave up on automatic doors because the coop electricity isint really consistent.

I ended up getting an Ador1. It was between it, and one other. I had questions about both, and emailed both companies. Ador emailed me back with detailed information, that answered all of my questions and even gave me options for how to handle different things. The other company never replied, even after a second email.

I have electricity in my coop, but it is run from my barn, which is not on the generator. I decided the battery operated Ador was my best option. It has operated smoothly, and with everything I have read and seen, has more metal components than the competitors which have more plastic components. I also got the External Pushbutton Kit for the door, which I highly recommend! The door is mounted on the outside of my coop, but I ran the button to the inside. When I want to lock the girls out (or in), it makes opening and closing the door easy and accessible to do so. I easily gave up wifi and remote operation for what appears to be a solid and quality door.

I really feel like this door will last a long time.

Yes! This has been my experience with their customer service as well. The guy who makes them really knows basically everything about the doors and seems to care a lot about making sure buyers are able to make informed decisions.

I'm a person that likes bells and whistles, but for something that just needs to work reliably, I'll happily give those up for reliability, which is what my experience with the ADOR1 door has been.

I started with an expensive Chicken guard. I malfunctioned several times.

After 8.5-9 years it was beyond repair and this time I bought a very simple door, without a ™ that works only with a light sensor and I can’t adjust anything. Very simple install. Probably something Chinese or at least Asian.
I use it about ½ a year. So far I love it.

It is my understanding that the electrical option will not have battery back up. You have to use one or the other. I have an Ador mounted inside the coop. It's great! The accessories - external push button and external light sensor are easy to install if you need any of those options.
