ADOR1 Automatic Coop Door?

I have had the ADOR1 installed for a week and it is working like a champ.  The gear drive on the door is a big improvement over the string pulled door.  I will wait to judge the photo sensor until summer when the big tree is leafed out and the sun is more North East that South when it sets.

Installation was as easy as could get.

Are you still liking this? Am thinking about getting one.

I would also like to hear about the ADOR1. I've been thinking about getting the add-a-motor but I'm unsure which one is better.

Yes the ADOR1 is great. Take it out of the box, screw it to the front of the coop, clip in the battery, and that's it!
Don't worry it will close.
Don't worry it will open.
No strings to fail.
It is a shiny galvanized door on the front of my coop, but the function has been great.
One of these days I will paint it to match the siding.

Rendezvous,
Thanks for posting your comments. I'm glad the ADOR1 has been great for you.

I recommend not painting the door. Have you ever painted a galvanized bucket? I haven't but I am afraid it might peel off after a while. Here is what I recommend. You can get some shelving paper and cut it to size and just stick it to the door panel. That ought to last a long time but just peel it off and put another sheet on there if it gets old or dirty. Maybe you can paint the shelving paper.

I used a woodgrain over the box and white over the door panel. And note I put it right over the sprocket holes....no problem because the sprocket poked right through it. I was just playing around because I thought it would be interesting to try different surfaces. The next thing I will try is the new decorative duct tape. There are some wild patterns, like zebra and snakeskin. OK...maybe that's too weird. You can always take it back off.

I made my own out of an electric car-window mechanism bought off ebay. It's controlled by daylight so there's no messing around changing timers throughout the year. It opens at dawn and shuts after dusk. I made a video showing how it's all wired up and what bit I used...

After reading the reviews here on BYC and checking out the websites of the 3 or 4 top automatic doors, I just ordered my Ador1 too. I think it is an up and coming product. I had a problem ordering online, so I called their number. I had a very pleasant 5 minute conversation with Rod.

I ordered the door on a Sunday and received it on that following Wednesday. It was pretty fast and well packaged. Note though: I am in Oklahoma, and Rod is in Texas so if you are further north, you might add a day or two.
