This is driving me crazy. The urge to candle them is unnerving.
I know! I keep going in the brooder room every 20 minutes and staring through the plastic wall of the incubator. I'm starting to wonder if I hallucinated the peeping, because I don't hear it now. I'm going to go fold lots of laundry. Hang in there!

3rd chick pipped but died in egg :( It was perfectly formed too.

14 more eggs left in incubator, on day 18 of quail hatching. I hope more hatch as the 2 chicks that hatched yesterday are fighting/squabbling in the brooder.

I hear ya, this morning I could have sworn I saw one of the eggs move. Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me.

So sorry! :( Poor little one. I am surprised that you have two baby quail fussing at each other. Do quail chicks normally do that? Wishing you more little chicks soon.:fl

Thank you!

I don't think so, it might be because there are only two in the brooder. My first hatch of 8 quail chicks never fought so guessing the current smaller number is causing not enough chicks to interact with to disperse aggressions evenly? I thought the red light would get them to be more calm but the little one is grabbing at the toes of its companion =/

I'm doing the same thing! I just came back from staring and pressing my ear up to the incubator. This morning, I thought maybe one of the eggs had rolled from where I had set it, but I fear it maybe just my fevered hatching state imagining things.

It's a long final countdown.

That's always so sad. Hope you get more little 'uns soon.
