adventures in phamacopoeia UPDATE!

Rheumatologist also treat other auto-immune disorders, such as lupus and fibromyalgia; both of which I have.
I'm wondering if I'm having such a hard time with this med because it's also used as a seizure med and I'm already taking one seizure med.
At any rate, I wasn't impressed with this rheumatologist and I'm not even sure I'm going to continue to see her. I'm going to see what my internist says because I trust him a whole lot more than I've ever trusted any doctor.
Sure, I'd like to be pain-free or at least have less pain, but if you can't function what's the point?

Oh I think I beat you - I am allergic to Neosporin. So, if I ever get an eye infection, I have to be VERY careful what they give me.

ETA: I am probably allergic to Prep H too. Not sure I wanna try it.

put some med on the inside of your forearm overnight first. Then you find out if you're allergic in an.....easier way.

I should have looked here first!

i am allergic to one thing and one thing only. these very small very strong bandages called steri strips. once when i was 10 i got a cu to the bone. me being afraid of needles refused to allow stitches! so they gave me steri strips. the first time my mom went to change the bandage she saw the totally sterile area rather swollen! as soon as the cut healed enough she switched to butterfly bandages and the swelling immediately went down (my moms a nurse so it was ok for her to change the bandages herself)

topomax, lyrica and neurotin... all seizure meds that will make you loopy and are used for treating fibromyalgia and neuropathic pain. topomax has the added benefit of weight loss as a side effect.. we joke that you loose weight because you're too loopy to find the kitchen.

I've been around a lot of people on this medication and they do tell me that they eventually get used to it. Did the doctor say it has to be taken in the morning? You may want to try taking at night until you get used to the dose.

No, she told me to take it at bedtime for the first week. Next week I add a morning dose and then the week after an evening dose. So I'll be loopy all day, not just in the mornings anymore.

I took neurontin for years with no side effects.

Phenobarb is a dirty drug.

Methotrexate is a SCARY drug... so many interactions with other drugs.

Lyrica has helped a number of my patients with different ailments, but it takes a while to get into your system.

I doubt a rheumatologist would give you dilantin. (that makes your gums in your mouth over grow)

I'm just trying to guess here what they have you on.
