That's a horrible way for a dog to die. Unfortunately, I've gotten to see it several times. I know the people involved take priority in this case, but that is not the answer.

Forget filming the dog's reaction to your children and showing the film to you BIL.

Film the reaction and show it to Animal Control. Or use the film to show how the dog is reacting to abuse/neglect or what ever.

I live in SC, my family is in VA & WV. . . . There is a reason I live in SC. I am far enough away to limit the number of visits from my family !

not far from here they had a 10 year old drug down the road by their neighbors 2 pitbulls and he died....

The problem is not so much the dog, but the jerk in laws. They are using to the dog to antagonize you. If it wasn't the dog, it would be some other vile thing.

This is probably a continuation of a relationship that has existed since childhood.

Do you really want to live this close to this kind of people? Think long and hard about this relationship.

You cant stick ANY dog in that type of existance, and think it is gonna be fine with anybody. Let alone kids! These are the trash that like to get pits to make themselves look tougher! (We call this Small P*n*s Syndrome around here.) THEY are what give pitbulls a bad rep. And it's just recently pits. In the 70s and early 80s it was Rotti's. The y get the "tough" dog to overcompensate for other short comings, and keep it locked away only to be brought out and shown off on the occasional visit from other loser friends. MANY of them around here. I feel bad for the dog, but unfortunatly it sounds like he needs to be put down. ALONG with dear BIL...

I think a call in to the sheriff/police might also be in order to see if there's a law about menacing. They might be able to point you in a good direction.

Unfortunately, Punk Rock, this type of attitude will get this thread locked. So, be careful how you word things in the future, please !

However, I do agree with you, that is a poor way to eliminate a problem dog.
