Advice: fox attack & introducing new chicks (sorry for the long post)

:welcome :frow So sorry for your loss. There are usually a couple of times during the year when the predators are more active. During the spring when looking for mates and having their young to feed and in the fall when the youngsters start hunting on their own but attacks can happen at anytime. I don't free range anymore due to losses in the past. I have nice large covered pens pens for my birds. I have electric wires around the coops and pens all due to losses from predators in the past. One night several years ago a bobcat killed 14 birds one night. I have had a couple of fox in the past I caught in the act of killing my birds. One dug under a gate. I have since put concrete under all of the gates. I did eliminate the fox. I have seen others since. I have several cameras up and most nights see a predator on at least one of the cameras. I have some of the cameras mounted on posts so I can move them around. You will find a lot of good information here BYCArticles.jpg Good luck with your birds and have fun...

Treats are good. Most birds love meal worms. I give my birds treats of mixed grains and seeds with meal worms. They will do most anything for treats. The way to a chicken's heart is through their stomach. You can probably gain your females trust again with some treats. Again, good luck and have fun...
