advice from Postmaster on egg shipping

Well I'm surprised any one buys hatching eggs from hatcheries if they pack them so poorly. I would have thought they of all people would pack them some special way to insure good delivery. Now I feel really lucky that I had 5 out of 6 eggs hatch for me, and when I received them none were broken and my box was in excellent condition. I was probably just lucky, and my eggs came from Virginia to Ohio, not so far i guess. This was my first experience with shipped eggs. i probably won't be so lucky next time.

I think some of the PO workers just don't know what they do damages the eggs. I received a box of Serama eggs that I picked up at the PO. The box had a hole torn in it. When the guy handed it to me he noted that the box had been damaged, but it felt like the person had packed it very well. Then he shook the box hard right in front of me

Luckly, they were packed well and I got a 50% hatch rate.
