Advice: Hand turning shipped eggs, but traveling for 2 days!!

What days do you recommend marking the air sac? 7 and 14? I started the eggs Saturday the 17th at around 9am. I figure on candling either tonight or tomorrow night and anything that looks "active" keep and lay them on their side and start up the auto turner. I am using the Nurture Right 360 and I have been just using the built in candle light that is on the lid. I also have the eggs in a styrofoam egg carton that has one side of the carton propped up 3 lego pieces high. I have been turning the eggs inside the carton 1/3rd turn 3 times a day and alternating the lego prop to the other side.

I just bought one of those incubators too. Hatching in it for the first time next week. (did you get a fan guard, and have you seen the issues with it???)

The part that worries me a little is I wonder if your tilting has placed any eggs too high, and too close to the heating element. So be careful with that.

I would suggest marking them on 7 and 14, since those are the common days on comparison charts. And if they are too big or too small, you still have time to adjust humidity.

Oh no, I never considered the heating element frying my eggs!!!

It may not be an issue, this incubator is made a little differently.
I normally incubate in one of my Brinsea Octagons, with eggs upright, but I got some eggs while those were full, so I used my styro hatcher for a few days to start the eggs. Never considered the element, but I feel sure they fried the eggs that were on the ends, because of the way I raised the cartons. :hmm
So now I think about that when other folks use cartons and do the tilt thing.
