I have a recently hatched Pekin chick that is struggling to stand. From what I can tell it is not splay leg. It sits on its bum with the legs directly out in front. The little advice I've found suggests putting it in a cup to force it to stand. Thus far I've hobbled it in case of splay leg and anchored it in a cup in a position that means it can push upward but not get its legs forward. It has now had 12 hrs like that but no sign of improvement. Desperate not to cull as its the only one of the clutch to make it this far.

Some of my Silkies occasionally hatch like that. I've never done anything for them, they just work it out on their own. I think the cup is probably your best bet. From what I've read, most folks leave them in there for a few days. Good luck!

You mean a pekin duck? Sounds like niacin deficiency. Hop on over to the duck Forum for more information on how to correct it.
