Hi, in a first time peafowl owner, please be kind.
I hatched one peachick from an egg that was given to me, after 2 weeks of raising it with ducks, I could see it needed a companion & separated from the messy ducklings. I found a peachick the same age from a peacock breeder & brought it home at around 2 weeks old.. not too long after being together both peachicks started shaking their heads occasionally.. they are now 9 weeks old & still shaking their heads as though there is an irritation.
They are on grower pheasant feed that was recommended to me by the peacock breeder.. are in a very large dog crate (so good ventilation) with a perch & one red lamp.
They have hemp auboise bedding. Clean water, cage cleaned every other day & they are in our kitchen.. we have dogs in the same kitchen but they don’t mix..
There is no discharge, no sneezing, no gaping or yawning. Poo looks good, they are active & growing very well otherwise.. I have worked out I gave one boy & one peahen.
No visable mites.
When should I worm. Could it be gape worm? Or a sinus infection?
I also provide flint grit.
Please help.
