Just like the title says. I'm looking to buy a new (or new to me) .22 rifle. The one I have now is a Winchester model 69 that my great grandfather bought new in 1935 or 36, it still shoots fine and is one of the most accurate rifles I've ever fired but I don't want to add any more wear and tear to it if I can help it.

So I'm looking for something that is accurate and will fire .22 Long Rifle, Long and Short rounds. So far all I've seen that I like the feel of is the new Marlin 39A but it's expensive and is getting some bad reviews. Oh and I'd prefer bolt or lever action.

Advice?

if you want .22 s options that cycle smoothly, Henry Rifles are very well made.
Here's a lever action: http://www.henryrifles.com/rifles/lever-action-22-rifle/
Here's a pump action: http://www.henryrifles.com/rifles/pump-action-octagon-rifle/
I gave a 22 lever action octagon to my Dad.

It is nice to have the 22 short option. I use a Marlin model 60 that works well. It is only rifled for .22 LR though.

Good deals can be had on Gunbroker.com. It is important to have a good FFL distributor on hand before bidding. Be sure to look at seller's history. This will make the purchasing process go smoothly.

Our favorite .22lr is a GSG 522 SD. But that is a semi automatic "assault style" rifle. Not sure if that is your cup of coffee. We paid (with military discount) 400$ for it. We love that it has a Piccatiny on it so you can mount stuff like laser sights and whatnot.
