Hello,
Hoping for some advice on adding an automatic battery operated coop door to existing coop. I have the Innovation Pet Big Green Walk In Hen House. Has anyone added one to theirs? Would love ideas on best place to put it.

I have an auto pop door. Ador1 and I am Super Satisfied with it.
You would install it over your current pop door opening.
I am also thinking that if you do install a door, you may have to add some additional vents to coop. Not sure how your coop is vented, since I don't have one of such. The open pop door currently does provide much needed ventilation. It is something NECESSARY IN ALL COOPS. Overnight when door closed, is when the additional vents would come in handy.

You'll need to do some careful measuring to see what sort of clearance you have to work with. The issue with auto doors in small coops like this is there's often not enough allowance for the door to open - they either slide up and down, side to side, or outward - and sometimes the motor takes up space too. Most door manufacturers will list the required allowance for the door to work.

That would probably be the best bet then, that or the ones that swing outward. I really doubt there's space in that coop for a vertical door.

I research well before I made the leap to fork over 200 bananas. Those that open outward are problems waiting to happen. That is my formed opinion after studying their operation. They were also not secure enough in my opinion against a crafty predator like a raccoon. I know what raccoons do to unsecured picnic coolers when I'm camping.

Thx so much, I will look into this one!

One of the things I like the best about my Ador is that it is sprocket driven. The tines of the sprocket go into the holes you see in the door to raise it lower it as the sprocket rotates. When the door is closed, it would be just about impossible for a predator to raise it by force.

Hello,
Looking more into this one. Was ready to purchase but found out that you can’t program a specific time for it to open. A little worried about that as I usually let my hens out about 10 minutes before sunrise to avoid them squawking and bothering the neighbors. Can you tell me, does it open right at sunrise? On the most sensitive setting, does yours open before sunrise at all?
Thank you!
