advice on bird seed

I have 2 male zebra finches. On a daily basis I give them fresh seed and pellet food, especially for finches, along with a fruit or veggie and water, of course. I like to give them a little seed treat as well, but my pet store doesn't seem to have much in that line. I bought something called Breeding & Nesting Seed for small birds...It's actually a supplement for Mother Birds and Chicks it says on the container. It has high levels of protein, it says, to meet the high nutritional needs of nesting parents and baby chicks...which of course my two males are neither. Mind you, I'm not offering them more than probably 3/4 of a teaspoon daily...along with all the other things mentioned above. My question is whether this food could hurt them....I'm just trying to give them some variety.
