We brought our new chicks and mama home today, and I am not happy with how the mama looks. Also one of the chicks seems to have a mark on its comb. Do you guys have any idea what this maybe? They were in an isolated coop. It was a wooden coop with a small amount of straw. Should I just let it heal on its own or put something on it? The chicks are six weeks and the mama is about 7 months.

The chick may have gotten it rubbed on a feeder or fencing, it looks very minor and I would just keep an eye on it. Usually they heal up fine on their own. If this is the hen that raised the chicks, they can stay with her unless she's driving them away. If she's not the mother that raised them I would keep them separate. At 6 weeks they are old enough to be on their own.

Yes she raised them after we lost our flock she was broody on a set of eggs and none of them were fertile so our breeder put them under her and she hatched them out! We will see how they do together. When we were with them in the run they followed her but not super close, and I never saw her chase them away. She was being good to them!
