Advice on Feeding

The problem with cat food is that there is a lot of sodium in cat food, which is not good for birds. A cheap and healthy way to boost protein is canned tuna. Fed to adult hens, it will also add omegas to the eggs.

If your using the Dumor starter/grower 20%, you can keep them on that forever. Just have crushed oyster shell in a separate feeder, after they start laying, for them to eat when needed. They will know when they need it.

Yes the protein is beneficial... not sure what in cat food is the problem. But I'm also talking about new chicks. I'll see if I can find the thread.

And she is looking to boost protein in chicks I think??? Is there anything other than a higher protein chick starter feed?

I know it's hard to go back. So I'll try to explain again. I'm using Dumor but it's the Non-GMO. It's 19%. I was trying to go a bit higher as stated in other threads. They are new chicks.

OK...I just checked my bag of starter/grower and it is 20% so I think you are ok
