Hello I’m very new to this website so not sure if I’m posting in the right place but I need advice on my baby chick hatched on Sunday 2 days ago she seems to be having problems standing and walking she’s curling her toes and keep falling to her back and is unable to get back to her front I’m keeping a close eye on her and nothing seems to be changing. I don’t want her to suffer or be in pain she’s been moved to the brooder but had to be separated again as the other chicks have already found there way to walk and keep walking over her just so unsure of what it can be and how I can help her. Can someone give me some advice please.

Hi there, welcome to BYC! :frow

Poultry nutri drench given directly to the beak several time MIGHT make a difference... and is your very best bet if you are able to get it. It's available at most feed stores if not sold out.

If you ALREADY have baby vitamins on hand (no iron), you can use those in a pinch.

If you can't find the poultry nutri drench (or afford it), liquid bird vitamins from the pet department (even at Wally) should work!

If the chick isn't getting up to drink or anything yet... it is failing to thrive, essentially dehydrating and starving. You doing vitamin drips, just below the nostrils so it rolls around and the chicks beak and gobbles and swallows... about every half hour... is likely it's only hope, in my experience. The egg it hatched from was too vitamin deficient to fully support life. I hold the chick in my hand with it's beak facing the bend in my forefinger so I can help catch and direct the drop onto the beak. :fl
