Advice on treating this chicks eye

That's odd, it's almost like the skin closed over the eye.
But you can see movement under the skin too!
Is she the one from the very first post of this thread or a different one?

Yes she is. The very first chick I posted about. You’re right it’s almost like the skin healed almost completely closed. It’s really odd, i had no idea it would do that.
I am not sure what to do for her. What my next steps should be. I tried to pry the opening she has right now a little bit more, and it’s not budging at all.

I don't know what you can do at home if it's healed over like that.
An avian vet may be able to open it.

Yes, I was kind of thinking the same thing. However the only avian vet we have near is a Small animal and bird vet about 50 miles away, and I have taken my daughters Guinea pigs to them a couple of times, and both times walked out with an enormous bill.
I am very hesitant to do that. I will call them though and ask. I know the usual line of we would have to see the bird and the exam itself was $75 years ago with the Guinea pigs, so I am sure with costs only going up it will be $100.00 just to look at the chick.

That is strange. Try higher up on the eye to see if the slit is at the very top and just sealed with secretions. Since was so raw and scabby, I suppose it could have healed over. I just haven’t seen that before.

Me either, and get this….
I have another chick (this makes 2) with the same issue. The only thing I can think of is that with both of these chicks they had major scabs around the eye.
yesterday I went to treat the chicks that still are separated from the flock, and noticed the polish chick that had a crusted over eye, now has almost no opening in its eye. Same situation as the other chick. I had treated the polish less than 48 hours ago and it wasn’t like that at all.
I am at a loss on how this can happen so quickly.

I know this is not the hatcheries fault at all, however, I am not ordering from any other hatcheries besides my 2 usual ones again. Call me crazy, but I have had nothing but headaches from this set of chicks I ordered from a new place.

Ok, so I think I figured out the official medical name for what is going on with the 2 chicks. granted I am no vet, but after doing some research I think I might have a better understanding of what’s going on.

Would it be possible to have your vet using sterile procedure, lifting the lids up with tweezers, cutting slits into the paper thin little eyelids? It sounds like they could possibly seal shut again, but I would use ointment or drops to try and prevent it. I am an RN, and not a vet, but I would be tempted to do it myself at home, with assistance and careful sterile technique. That would be better than having total blindness. Many people would not attempt this, and it could result in more damage or infection, with the eyeball being so close.
