Advice please - Crooked neck hatchling. What would you do? *pic*

The little Porsche as I have dubbed him/her has become my little buddy. So far, they haven't pooped on me and seem to enjoy sitting on my lap but one of our Maine Coons gets really annoyed with the peeping and keeps trying to come over and get at the little guy. Putting down that other one bothered me all day but it was for the best.

I;m sorry for your trouuble. I seem to see a lot of hatching situations. Does anyone know how many of these problem chicks are from hybrid chicks. I never hear anyone mention the parentage of the chicks in these situations. I wonder how many folks are just randomly breeding or how many only breed, breed to breed? Right now I have 8 different breeds, but if I get a roo of one of these breeds I don't think I'll be hatching any eggs from his non-breed girl friends. anyone have any comments about these unfortunate chicks. Oh one more thing. How many of these problems are seen in Hen hatched chicks?

This is usually an incubation issue when this happens. If a hen was to hatch a chick that way, she would cull it herself.

My serama hatched out 4 chicks about a month ago and she did attempt to kill the one that had a defect. My hubby had to finish it off. I don't think it is anything to do with "mutt" chickens - almost all my chicks I have right now are mutts and they are very healthy and active whether they hatched under a broody or are from the incubator.
