Advice please help re running parrot

A rainbow lorriket has just landed in my yard. My husband has just caught it and put in cage.
It obviously is a running parrot ( pistaccine infection - pls excuse spelling).
My chooks free range.
Does anyone know if this infection can spread to chooks?

I cannot help with parrot diseases, but if you can describe symptoms, someone else may have some knowledge.

Are you in Australia or NZ? Apparently chlamidia is common in parrots, and doxycycline from a vet is a good antibiotic to treat it. Here is a link about parrot diseases:

Hi. Thanks Eggcessive for reply.
I am in Australia. I have just come across this article so will try get the poor thing to the vet before work and hopefully he hasn't contaminated my yard . Big sigh.
