My SLW bantam, Queenie, I think hurt her leg by catching it in something, there was blood on a toenail & she was having great difficulty walking when I found her. I've kept her in, (& out under laundry basket on lawn when sunny) supported in a tiny cat bed with folded towels, & towel over the top. It is now 12 days since it happened. She is still eating & drinking,(with RRA & Rescue Remedy) though I think her throat is sore, as she gasps & gags after each swallow of cold water. (not with seeds though, which she eats keenly). She is kicking both legs strongly when picked up, can push a little with bad leg on my hand & frequently launches herself out of the bed, but can't stand up. Her right eye gets stuck up overnight last two days, but her eyesight is good in both, no colour change from orange. She's been wormed & has regular DE dustbaths in garden, & is a very tame pet.

It doesn't seem to fit Mareks, & the bloody toenail makes me think she damaged the hip connection, which may heal up over time.
I just wondered if anyone has experience of hip damage healing up, time-wise, & whether there is still chance she has Mareks or something else incurable, as I don't want her to suffer unnecessarily. It doesn't help that she's in full moult so not on top form anyway.

Also, if she got water in the wrong 'hole' when I use a syringe to save her lots of swallowing, what would happen? I don't know if I've done this, just wondered if I may have, though I was careful.

She is at least a year old, & probably older, as she is a retired show chicken. I've had her for 6 months in my garden, only had contact with my 3 other hens (2 are about 2 years old, one is nearly a year old & the latest in-since April. All others are fine.
