my girls have been laying for 4 months.
just recently they started laying small eggs.
one day they will be big, but today - all 8 laid and all 8 were small.

what could be the deal?

food/water is fine!

I don't know but my chickens will lay large or even jumbo one day and small the next. Don't make sense to me.

I have a salmon faverolle that lays the smallest eggs I get. I put a Giant Partridge Cochin over her and hatched out one of her eggs.

Out of the tiniest egg in the bator came the BIGGEST chick in the brooder. He is a real giant! Too bad he's gonna end up in the freezer cuz I don't think anyone will buy him.

My hens have been laying for 2 months. They were nice size from day one but one hen has just started laying reallly small eggs, about the size of an olive! I have her and another hen quarantined because the rooster has wore a bald spot on their back. Trying to give them a chance to grow some feathers back. Could it be stress from being taken away from her rooster? She seems to be his favorite.
How have your chickens been laying?
