advice re: hens killed by dog

I would probably take $10-$20. I have seen pullets listed for that much in hatcheries.On craigs I see them sold for the same.

Even at $10 per I think the owner might not want to give you the total.After all it adds up and he may think $40 is to much for silly birds. I hope not.

Once you get the money need to go into SSS mode. The guy knows his dogs did wrong,so you need not warn him that next time you will be more harsh. Also,the owner should not think his dogs can kill your livestock,and he gets away with tossing some cash at you. To me no amount of money would make up for a killed hen or roo.I like that all,and the roo is hard to replace(he's so sweet).

File a report with animal control or the police.Not to cause issues,but for some this has become useful in showing the owner did not stop their dogs from running at large and causing damage/death.In many places this results in fines.Sometimes it is the fines that get them.
