I have just recently got my 3 hens which have just started to lay...only 2 are laying..,, what should I do
about the one who isn't

Do you mean you only get two eggs a day? Or do you know that one of them is not laying?
:welcome

I have 46 laying chickens and 28 chicks that will be laying in August. I used to have 66 bigger chickens, until they got old and stopped laying..... Anyway, I found out that my chickens were stepping on their eggs and eating them!!!! The only way to stop this is to get the egg AS SOON as its laid. And DON'T feed your chickens eggs or eggshells, it gets them addicted to it! Evidence of this, is the shavings (or whatever you use in your nesting boxes, cut grass, wood shavings etc.) are wet and some are stuck together. Another thing is, Is this chicken old? Or real young, They start laying at about 6 months old and stop laying at about 3-4 years old. Sorry about all the questions.....

Oh yeah, WELCOME TO BYC!!!! I am quite new myself.

If the other two just 'started' laying, the third one may just take longer. They lay about at a certain age, it doesn't mean they all start then. They will never be like clockwork. Give her more time.

hello, im sure she will start soon with my first three one started then a week later the second started then another week after that my 3rd started. some just take longer to be ready and need to feel totally settled in their new surroundings :-)

Welcome to BYC!

I agree with Drumstick Diva, if they have just started laying the 3rd one may be late to start. Give her some time and soon she should be laying.

Enjoy your flock and welcome to ours!
