Yep. My Silkies enjoy being mommas so much they'll adopt week olds. Haven't tried anything older though, and the only reason I tried the Silkies is because mine are super non aggressive, to a fault (which is why they're at the bottom of my main flock's pecking order). Although when they're mothering, it's a different story, lol.

I tried one of the Cochins once. She wasn't having none of that. She didn't hurt any chicks, but that's because I didn't give her the chance--I took the couple I was trying with out the second she tried to peck one when they tried to get under her. And she'd been broody for weeks, sitting on other eggs. :/ Perhaps once she's an experienced momma it'll be different, but for now I'm sticking with my Silkies if I need anyone to adopt.

Nope. But it's fine. She decided to go full-broody, and I gave her a clutch of 9 eggs to hatch.
