Advise needed. Shipping eggs issue.

I just hatched 6/3 eggs from a BYC auction from Brent -

!!!! 3 hatched and are precious and three appear to be unhatchable. I am so thrilled!!!! I think even 1 would have made it worth it! BLRW how beautiful!!! I think the lady is wrong to ask for so much! I think your original offer was very generous! It is a gamble that is understood in the beginning!

Yes, it was expensive to only get 2 out of the 12 but thats the gamble you take when you buy eggs. As hot it was in the south this summer, that also has to be taken into account on what doesn't hatch.

Anyway, for a seller to offer to ship more egg, they're being gracious. I didn't ask either of my sellers to send me more eggs, they sent me what was offered and they fufilled the shipment. To ask for more eggs is a bit harsh, who is to say the buyer didn't screw the incubation, spike the temps, drown them with humidity. Risk has got to be on the buyer. If you are not willing to take the risk, buy hatched chicks, they guarantee them.
 
What ever you do try not to let them go through Cincinnati Ohio's sort. None of my eggs hatch that go through there even eggs that were shipped here in Ohio. NO GOOD they drop heavy stuff on them, Maybe if someone on here works there they could explain to us what to do or what not to do.
 
My understanding is even if you do decide to refund their money you DON'T have to refund the shipping. I have heard this from several sellers.
I had one bad experience and it was from a BYC'r but more of a lurker on here. She filed a claim with Paypal because the PO took 4 days to get there. She claimed they should have been sent express mail (AH HELLO, express mail would have cost a whole lot more which she would not have paid I'm sure). I sent them priority mail just as I've sent all of my eggs. She expected me to refund imediately when they were not there on day 3. On day 4 they arrived. She refused the eggs at the PO on day 5. She filed the claim with PayPal claiming they were rotten eggs !!! SHE NEVER OPENED the box !!
Took 3 days to get them back here. I put them in the incubator and some still hatched !!!!! She made up outright lies to paypal.

She is from Florida and what I have noticed when I send eggs to the SE from the upper MidWest it takes longer. Also sending to NY area takes longer from here in the MidWest.

I was very upset when all of this unfolded but have since let it slide because she is just one of those kind of people that are out to cause trouble and they aren't worth my time. She needs to get a life !!

I had a 0% hatch on some eggs I bought this summer. I told the person I bought them from that none hatched and they were just as upset as I was. I knew it probably was the heat and the distance that caused this. Not once did I think it was this persons fault. But they were gracious enough to send me the same amount of eggs as before if I paid the shipping. I feel that not only did this person go completely out of their way to help me with more eggs, but was more than fair about the shipping. When you buy eggs through the mail its a gamble and most (this person did) have a disclaimer on the site about the hatching, postal service etc.
I said all of this because there are some AWSOME people out there that have good fertile eggs. No one knows what happens between the post office they left from and the one they get to. I would like to thank all of you who provide the opportunity for me to purchase these eggs.
