I keep my roosters separate unless I want to hatch eggs. I understand your feelings, though! I'm not worried myself, but it does feel strange eating something that has potential to become a living thing.

If eggs are collected everyday then zero chance of embryo. Is it the idea that it may be fertile? Get rid of your rooster if that is what stopping you.
That is a great point...do you even HAVE a rooster? If not then there is literally NO POSSIBLE way for there to be chicks developing in the eggs.If eggs are collected everyday then zero chance of embryo. Is it the idea that it may be fertile? Get rid of your rooster if that is what stopping you.
It will pass. It's not the thought of the egg being fertilized that scares me..... it's just that I've recently hatched some chicks, and now that I've spent time caring and looking after them, I just can't imagine cracking open one of their siblings and eating it. It just feels weird to me because I keep saying their little faces every time I go to the fridge to open that door and thinking of eating it!![]()
Wait... So you’re afraid of “accidentally” eating an already developing embryo?? Or the fact that the egg was fertile and could’ve hatched a chick??It's not the thought of the egg being fertilized that scares me..... it's just that I've recently hatched some chicks, and now that I've spent time caring and looking after the them, I just can't imagine cracking open one of their siblings and eating it.
