Variegated Buckeye Cranberry Sparkler

Oops, I forgot yesterday, and it has changed a lot since Monday!View attachment 4289931
Another 2 day gap. That seems to be a good interval to see the noticeable differences.

The flowers look less full than they did when I bought it. I wonder if I got it mixed up and it’s a different plant. But I have noticed with other ones that they bloom different in subsequent blooms. I know temperature and light affect the variegation on leaves. I wonder if those things affect blooms.

Hugely disappointing. This one’s buds were all dying off and I had to remove several leaves too. Hopefully with all the flower buds removed, it can put its energies into surviving. I’m thinking of setting any good leaves it still has and doing a stem set as well. Try to salvage it before all the leaves rot.

It is a known fact that plants have an inner drive to reproduce and will set seed in a last ditch attempt to survive when they are in a decline. (Not sure where that known fact came from, but I think I’ve read it lots of times.)

Maybe that’s why it was starting to bloom in the first place. Or it could be that I messed it up when I repotted it. I try to be careful when repotting, but I hesitate to even do it because that’s how I kill so many plants.

It’s been a week since I did the repotting. I need to check my records of what got repotted against which ones are dying off. Will do another update after I do that.

At least this one seems to be doing well. Another 2 day interval:

Sorry the Cranberry Sparkler is fizzling out. That has such pretty variegated leaves, I was looking forward to seeing the flowers. Hope you can salvage it Finnie.
