After Christmas I would like to do a block swap. Update first post

You would make your blocks and mail them in a large envelope along with a second large envelope of the same size with the same amount of postage addressed to you. You send it to gin (or who ever else is hosting the swap) and they swap out the blocks and mail a set back to you. Hope that helps...

That helps alot, thanks so much. I have never been a part of a swap before was unclear how it works. Thanks again.

I will put everything you need to know up on the first post for the Newbys. I just need to get my DS to bed because I was working on it and he was on the computer and lost it all for me.

I would also like to know:

~ if you want all blue stars with the beige background or can it be visa-versa.

~ do we need to follow the pattern as given? What I mean is it looks like this could be done with a bunch of triangles sewn into squares. **I don't piece a whole lot so you experts tell me which is easier, please?** Maybe some easy piece triangle blocks? The finished product would look exactly the same, but would have a few more seams.

No rush at all on the questions. I appreciate your time.

The method you use shouldn't matter as long as the block looks the same and measures the right size.

I do alot of my blocks with triangles by starting with squares sewing them together and them cutting apart as I think you were refering to .

I know when I looked at it I thought about doing the half square triangles also. Do you know how to make two squares at a time?

I think if we all go by the pattern, say the beige would be where the white is on the pattern that would look better when they are all together.

Thanks Chicken Woman

By the way I appreciate all the help you veterans are giving me.

I have this same block in my "repertoire" of blocks. The instructions allow for two 6 inch X blocks in the mid section instead of all the 1/2 triangle blocks.
Makes for less seams and easier cutting.

Can you show it to us?

Here it is. It is sewn in the reverse color order than the one pictured in the swap, but it is the same block.

Same beginning with 3 7/8 by 15 1/2 strip of each color cut into four 3 7/8 inch squares, cut on diagonal and sewn together into eight 3 1/2 inch triangle squares.

The middle strip on this one is a 7 1/4 inch square of each color cut on the diagonal two times and then sewn into two 6 1/2 inch X squares.
The photo shows the block before the last row is added.

Just get a couple small pieces of fabric and try this block. Instructions are pretty clear on the site if you follow them.

Or go to the site and choose a block that is a one star (meaning easy or beginner) and try a few of them. I will give you my email and phone so you can call and get help if you would like Mema.

Blessings
