Thanks Ginbart, a pat on the back NEVER hurts.

Do be careful of your back though. When your back is out you're out.

Gin take care of that back. Those things hurt when they go out. Mine used too go out more than I did!!! I have a rub on bottle of freeze it that I got at Wal-mart and that is what I use and it seems too help fast. And that bottle last a long time too. If I lived close I would get out there and help you.

Congrats on the ones that already have their 20 blocks ready. One day I might be that fast. But I gotta get this carpul tunnel fixed when I get extra money and then I will make a better attempt at hitting the sewing machine and learning what too do.

It is raining again today and the temp is dropping and DH has gone after Chicken feed and wood chips. Yall have a nice day and Gin will stop to say a prayer for your back too get better today.

I have a bottle of mineral Ice DH has been putting on my back. Is that the same thing you were taking about mema2003?

Thanks everyone. Well I'm going up.

there are two products you can get that will help.

1. Retayne
for setting your colors,
it says:
Stop the Bleed!
color fixative for commercially dyed cotton fabrics

2. Synthrapol
for removing excess dye
it says:
Cocentrated Surfactant
greate for hand dyed fabrics
use in dyebath for even dye results
use before dyeing to remove sizing
removes excess dye from hand dyed fabrics

these were suggested to me in a quilt group by our teacher and she worked for Ben Franklin Crafts Store. this store no longer sell quilt fabrics anymore, so not sure where else purchase these items.

Maybe I have just been lucky. The only thing I usually prewash is hand dyed fabrics. The reds I use are Jinny Beyer and Thimbleberries, mostly. They say their fabrics are already preshrunk. I haven't had a problem with them, so I just stick to the higher quality cottons for that reason. I happen to like the stiffness of the fresh fabrics right off the bolt. Just my opinion, I'm not trying to convince anyone that one way is any better than another.

I made all 20 plus some extras with 3 yards of each of the two colors in 44" fabrics. And, I made the center row like Ginbart showed in her example with 7 1/4" squares cut diagonally twice and sewn into quarter square triangles.

Has anyone else cut all their pieces?
