Hi all. Per advice I've read from other threads on how to minimize summer-heat chicken-stink in my stationary run (8 girls in ~100 sq feet, with a sand floor), I went to my local farm supply shop to get some Agricultural Lime. The folks there said they only carry "Horticultural Hydrated Lime," and that it would do the same thing, and would not harm my chickens if I spread it on/worked it into the sand of their run. They're usually very helpful and know plenty lots more than me, but before I go raking this stuff in, I wanted to double check with all you chicken gurus. Are the two interchangeable? Is horticultural hydrated lime safe for chickies?
thanks!

Following the caveats on the label, you should be able to use horticultural hydrated lime for your intended purpose. From what I have read, it is better suited for your use than agricultural lime would be.
