I was wondering about this exact question, thanks for updating! I have a Sapphire Gem who I was getting really worried was a cockerel, because she has wattles at 4 weeks. But if course, Sapphire Gems are sex linked, so lucky me!

She's gorgeous! And the Brahma behind her is very beautiful, tooJust wanted to update this, in case someone in the future sees it and wants to know (I hate when posts aren’t updated when I’m searching for answers!). This golden laced Wyandotte turned out to be a hen. She started laying at about 5 months old. View attachment 2597361View attachment 2597362View attachment 2597363
Wyandottes seems to bud up VERY early. So no. It really doesn’t mean it is a definite male.Don't freak out...
.... but, sorry, yes, that red of a wattle at 3 weeks is almost surely a male.
Kind of an odd comb, wonder if bird is a mix.
Great pics BTW.
SLWs get wattles early. I wouldn’t freak out too much.A couple pics. Also the comb has sprouted. I just don’t remember my older girls having all these things at 3-4 weeks!View attachment 2069702View attachment 2069703
Those 2 are joined at the hip. I call them my “fat bottomed girls”!She's gorgeous! And the Brahma behind her is very beautiful, too![]()
Thank you, I’m quite smitten with her! She’s a very pretty hen OP![]()
Do you have any pics? I can tell you whether it’s most likely a boy or a girl.Thank you so much for updating this! I have a gold laced Wyandotte that developed wattles and combs way earlier than the other 6 Wyandottes, so this gives me hope that my pullet is still a pullet and not a roo!
That looks like a cockerel. Im so sorry.A couple pics. Also the comb has sprouted. I just don’t remember my older girls having all these things at 3-4 weeks!View attachment 2069702View attachment 2069703
