I fed my day old chicks nothing but medicated Start & Grow for 8 weeks, with chick grit in a separate container from 5 weeks old when I put them outside in their coop. No ACV or added vitamins. At 8 weeks I started to give them scratch grains twice a day, what they can consume in 10 to 15 minutes and granite grit in a separate container. And I started to give them cut grass 3 or 4 times a week when available or not covered by snow after they scratched and pecked all the grass in their 500 square foot pen.
I started to switch them to layers feed at 16 weeks (when they started to squat) mixed 50/50 with Start & Grow for 2 weeks. Unlimited layers pellets from 18 weeks on, with oyster shell in a separate container.
My five 11 month old girls are healthy and give me 32 to 35 eggs a week and I've never had to worm or give them antibiotics. This way of feeding works for me. GC
