I have a 16 week old Brahma Light that I think is a hen. She grew up with my two dogs who love her and her sister. (the attached photo is from about a month ago when she still loved him!) Over the past couple of weeks, she has become increasingly more aggressive toward my 14 year old, deaf and mostly blind Pomeranian. At first, she would just jun up to him and "chest bump." He would ignore her and walk away. Now she full on runs up to him and bites. He has never been anything but gentle and patient with the girls so I don't know where this aggression is coming from or why. Thoughts?

Here are a couple thoughts:
1. Feel free to post good side shots and comb shots of the bird in question on the "What breed and gender is this?" thread. Hopefully someone will be able to tell you if you, in fact, have a hen.
2. When the aggression takes place, is there any food involved?
3. Could your bird be trying to show dominance over your dog? Your pictures shows your bird on top of your dog which is a dominant position already, but perhaps your bird is still trying to show your dog who is the boss?

Maybe a stealth rooster in the making

. At any rate, please don't allow her/him to harass your dog. He is at a definite disadvantage due to his health concerns, and deserves better in his declining years. Maybe you could get pinless peepers for your Brahma - it prevents chickens from seeing straight ahead, so throws their aim off kilter.

Do you only have two chickens? Is it possible your brahma is a cockerel and thinks it is defending the sister ?. A roo can handle 10 hens. If he had that many, he wouldn't have so much time to attack your dog. In the interim, I would use a water pistol to persuade the bird not to bother your dog.

Here she is

[/IMG]. She has no hackles or saddle feathers and she is 16 weeks old. She used to sit on my old Pomeranian just to snuggle. The aggression just recently started. No food involved.
