Aggressive Drake. Problems

Alright so I had a Duck pair that were over a year old. But a few months ago a racoon got in and killed my girl duck. Well the Drake since then seemed to go crazy. He has to be in confinment because when he is out he chases after every hen like he is crazy. He will literately breed my hens to death! He grabs a hold of their necks and won't let go. Many of my hens are missing their tails, and feathers on their heads. Well I bought a little girl duckling so perhaps he will settle down. The duck is like 2 months old now. But when I tried to put them together he grabbed a hold of her and tried to breed her too! It's obnoxious. Stupid Drake. Now I don't know what to do. I didn't want to kill him but I don't see much of a choice. He is a spaz. And I fear to put the duck back in there with him, and he is locked in a pen by himself.

Any advice? I don't know what to do.

I was talking to a duck breeder recently. She told me the drakes hormone levels are controlled by the the number of hours of sunlight they get a day and that's why they act so crazy this time of year. She recommends keeping them out of the sun except for no more than six hours a day. That shrinks their testicles and they become less obnoxious.
Wonder if that would work with humans?

Sounds like a normal drake to me. I would get him at least 2 ducks, if not 3 or 4. And don't expect him to be a gentleman just because theya reyoung.

He always behaved so well until now. How should I go about putting the duck back in with him? I'm scared he will hurt her because he absolutely flips out when another poultry is in with him.

I would try and find him 2 girls his age. A drake will go after an unprotected younger duck in a HEART BEAT. I had a drake that just would not let any of the younger ducks integrate, so I sold him and his girlfriend. The drake I have now is young and after a little pecking order nipping is letting 3 welsh harlequin babies in to "his" flock.
If you can't find him some mature girlfriends...freezer camp?

Well my family does not like ducks after this. So they said no more. I will introduce them again and see what happens. If he goes after her it looks like he will be going bye bye.

Will a lone female duck get lonely if she is with chickens? She seemed happy now.

Ducks really do need a buddy. Get rid of the drake and get another girl.
