I have three Pekin ducks. Two are males- Ben and Cowgirl (long story behind the boy named Cowgirl), and a female- Marley.

For the most part, they all get along. But several times each day, Cowgirl will attack Ben both on land and in the pond. The attacks seem to resemble rough breeding, but happen all year. These ducks are our family pets and we want to make sure they're getting along. So what are my options for stopping these attacks?

Thanks in advance for any help!

It's hormone- driven, so it will probably take a combination of separation (you can simply divide their space with plastic poultry fence so they can see each other, just not touch) and behavior modification.

@Miss Lydia has had to help a Muscovy drake cool his jets - perhaps she can share some of her technique.

Please know that drakes can injure and even kill female ducks when the hormones make them crazy.

The funny thing is that it's usually one male attacking the other. One or the other will mate the female once or twice each day. But the aggressive male (Cowgirl) will attack the other calm male (Ben) several times each day- often multiple times in an hour. But after each attack, they'll get along just fine until Cowgirl decides he wants to be a jerk again....
