Genetics are a big part of the story, but not every bird having the same parents will behave the same way. It pays to only breed roosters who aren't human aggressive, to make it more likely that their offspring will be polite. Then there's the maternal influence, which is much harder or impossible to evaluate!
I wouldn't breed a hen who's a total jerk ever, but of the 'normal' hens, who's carrying nasty genetic tendencies toward human aggression in her sons?
Anyone have any thoughts on this???
For someone with a large flock and many breeding opportunities, it would be interesting as a project. As if there aren't enough projects already!
