Aggressive Rooster

They settle when they reach a year old, but jail time may adjust his behavior faster. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Predicting behavior is hard to do.
He was wearing them because he wanted to beat his brother up senseless, & it worked for awhile. Then he busted free of them, & beat up his brother really badly, so I put him in a coop with a bunch of roosters who put him in his place. He's staying there though, because he may still want to beat up his brother.

He lived with them for about a couple weeks until the incident happened.

But they do work, if you have a cockerel that isn't hard to work with.
I don't know yet, he is very young, so I hope. I know for sure I don't want him to hurt her ever again. It's only one hen he is really aggressive, she is very good egg layer and lovely girl. So it might be him or her. I have seen him to be mean, but that's cockerel teaching girls his rules, and now they sit still when he wants. She didn't want and she got hurt, I think. When I tried to get them together maybe they wanted to made up, but I panicked and separated them, as her injury is not healed to 100%

If he is nice to people, it could be that his roughness right now is due to raging hormones. He’s full of them at this age. If you really like him, I would keep him separated until he has aged a bit and then try him with the girls again. However, he may never settle down and always keep the hens in an uproar. I’ve had a couple like that, that didn’t get to stay around. All the hens breathed a sigh of relief!
Thank you! That does make perfect sense to me, my neighbour keeps saying you know teenagers what they are like. I have got another advice that the jail can help.
My daughter loves him as a pet, so I want to try everything as we lost her absolute favourite girl with who she went through the worst lockdown.

If he's hurting her, it's not good. Especially on purpose.

I had the same issue with my 6 month old rooster...I moved him in with my 3 year old mature rooster and his flock and held my breath...they knew each other as they'd lived on the other side of the wire for the last 6 months. After a few pecks to put the youngster in his place he completely ignored him... but he also kept him in his place without actually fighting. I recently moved the young rooster back with the other girls and he's been the perfect gentleman. I think the older rooster taught him to respect the girls!!

To be clear this won't work every time. I have a 2 year old Silkie and he got out with the older rooster and they immediately started fighting...we had to do a quick rescue before they got too far!

That's what I don't know yet. The day before I found her injured, I have seen him to chase her, but she escaped. And next day she had lost feathers including skin on her neck, the wound was about 5 cm x 2.5 cm large. And after three weeks when I tried to let all flock together he pulled some of her feathers when I blinked. And second time, I though she was ready to sit, but I panicked and he pulled some feathers again. So I don't know if he wants mating or if he hates her. Today, third time, she wasn't happy to see him she didn't know he has peepers, but he was saw her, and the atmosphere was tight for sure, so I stepped in and kept them separated.
I will keep them separated and try to find out.
Is it possible that they can't stand each other?

I don't have older rooster to teach him lesson. And I am worried that our silly boy might be the bread used to be for cockfighting.
