I take it your rooster is a barred rock too. My barred rock roo is 19 weeks. he use to come and eat out of my hands with our two ducks. he has never come after me. a couple times I have gone into the coop when they are on the roost and picked him up off the roost. He screams bloody murder, like I'm killing him. I do get him calmed down after a few min. now when I approach him on the roost he tries to hide under the gril next to him. in the run or open field he runs from me anytime I approach him.
Try grabbing yours wearing gloves.

Roo is a different bird already. He doesn't want to be picked up and if I seriously try to get him, he slams it in reverse and gets the hell out of Dodge quick. Just one day and he makes himself scarse while I'm around.
