Hi everyone.
I got a beautiful silkie called Agatha (hope I'm right about her gender) six months ago. I live in Australia and she has the whole backyard for her :).

I googled to find out some way to recognise her gender and found your website. I'm looking for some help to find her gender because I won't be able to keep her if it's a male.

Hope I'll find some welcoming people here that can help me :)

Welcome to BackYard Chickens!! I see from your other post that you received confirmation Agatha is most likely a pullet... yay!!!

But I think your bigger concern, as others have already mentioned, is that she's alone. Chickens are flock animals and no matter how much human companionship you give her, a lone chicken will be lonely and probably stressed. They depend on their flockmates to alert each other of predators, and they thrive on their clucky chit-chat.

She should be fine on her own for a few months but I hope you can get her a friend or two... maybe a couple chicks would be easier to introduce.

You've come to the right place... lots of friendly people here to help and answer any other questions you might have.

Good luck in you new chicken adventure!

How old is your silkie? They are a very difficult breed to sex early (before 4-5 mos.) and sometimes not until they crow or lay eggs. Please post photos especially showing full extent of comb, at "what breed or gender is this." for more advice and opinions.
