I have 2 female rouens that are almost a year old. A friend of a friend had a jumbo pekin that she needed to rehome. My husband and I offered to take her in. The jumbo pekin seemed sweet at first but now she is acting scared of us. She is fluffing up her feathers and getting a mohawk anytime I walk outside. She's honking like mad in the morning and evening. She charges my 2 rouens. I currently have them in the same pen but separated so the new duck can see my ducks but not get to them. I contacted her previous owner this morning to ask what kind of behavior she was exhibiting before we got her. She said that her duck was getting more and more attitude with her. She would honk like she wanted love and affection and puffed up her feathers. Then she would run circles around her and lay at her feet to be petted. The new duck's sister was killed by a raccoon a couple of months ago. Her owner was hoping that she could keep the duck happy without her sister but the duck is lonely. I just fee lost on what to do. I want the new duck to feel loved by us and know this is a great home for her but I don't want my current ducks being bullied either. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Any time you introduce a new duck it has to be done slowly, What you've done by separating is good. Give them all time to get use to each other. Then try them out together while you supervise. Toss some treats out on the ground so they are eating instead of being interested in each other. Shouldn't take them long to get to know each other and become on flock.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly! I will practice patience. ha-ha!

Even after they get to know each other there could still be some pushing and shoving even my Muscovy females that have been together for years have their moments. So let them work out things once they are together as long as no one is getting injured.
Keep us updated

That makes me feel so much better! This is my first time trying to introduce ducks before. I really do love the new jumbo pekin and really do hope it all works out. She is so beautiful. Thanks again for your help :) I will for sure check back in and give you an update!

Looking forward to it. Someone is going to have to be in charge since you don’t have a drake. That means they will have to work that out!
